Shirie "Linnie" Mae Taylor



Shirie “Linnie” Mae Taylor was born on September 10, 1961, in Grapeland, TX to Jeff Walker and Dora Mae Hatter.

 

Shirie attended school at W.R. Banks and later transitioned to Grapeland ISD. While attending school Shirie participated in band, sports, and many community activities, including the Annual Peanut Queen Coronation and joining the Eastern Stars.

 

After High School, Shirie met and married Eugene Taylor in 1980. Shirie Taylor loved Christ and was involved in many activities and departments within the church, such as, ushering, choir, mission, Sunday school teacher and community choir director. She accepted Christ at an early age and made sure her family followed in his footsteps as well.

 

She leaves to cherish her beautiful life and memories, her dedicated, loving, hardworking husband of 44 years, Eugene Taylor; her four children, Curlissa Taylor of Houston, TX, Patricia Nyame (Ryan Nyame) of Grapeland, TX, Addison Taylor of Kansas City, MO, and Faustina Taylor-Jones (Raymond Jones) of Huntsville, TX; three special nieces, Jesselyn May of Grapeland, TX, Erica Walker-Nelson (Switzerland Nelson) of Lancaster, TX, and Ebony Shepherd of Grapeland, TX; her brother, Kent Walker (Stephanie Walker) of Grapeland, TX; her sisters, Mary Lomax (Elbert Lomax) of Grapeland, TX, Ellen Shepherd of Grapeland, TX, Linda Murphy (William Murphy) of Dallas, TX, Francis Phillips of Grapeland, TX, Alphia Steinsbo of Grapeland, TX; eleven grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and her close friends.

 

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Jordan Walker and Emma Novella; her parents, Jeff and Dora Mae Walker, and brothers, Jeff Walker II, McArther Walker, Eddie B. Walker, Larry Walker, and John Riley Walker.

I knew Shirie from Best Friends and was shocked and saddened to learn of her passing. She was such a kind, caring soul and an incredible mentor and supervisor. My heartfelt condolences go out to her family and loved ones during this difficult time.
