Rubie Jean Taylor Lewis, age 77, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2025, at home. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished grand/great grand mother and dear friend to many.
Rubie was born the oldest of eleven siblings to Ruben “Boybee” and Mollie Taylor. She attended W.R. Banks School. She worked in the Grapeland ISD for many years. She retired to become a homemaker. She served faithfully as a member of St. John Baptist Church, Grapeland, Texas.
Rubie will be dearly missed by her children Sherry Sails (Darren) of Houston, TX, Curtis J. Lewis Jr. of Grapeland, TX, Markis Lewis (Bessie) of Elkhart, TX, Lance Lewis (Phillip) of Seattle, WA, grandchildren Britney Randall of Houston, TX, Cody Moore of Greensville, TX, Jerry Jordan Randall of Houston, TX, Caitlyn Lewis of Tyler, TX, great grandchildren Nia Robbins of Houston, TX, Addison Randall of Ft. Worth, TX, Nehemiah Williams of Houston, TX, surviving sister Etta M. Taylor of Crockett, TX, host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
She touched the lives of many and will be remembered fondly for her kindness, compassion and gentle spirit.
Preceded in death: beloved husband Curtis J. Lewis Sr., parents Ruben (Boybee) and Mollie Taylor, siblings Carolyn L. Turner, Ruth E. Black, Sallie M. Caldwell, Thelma Taylor, Linda J. Taylor, Ruben L. Taylor, Frank D. Taylor, Tobie Taylor, Jobie Taylor, Edward Taylor.
Rubie may have left this world, but her love and legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
