Mr. Johnny Ray Lamb Sr. (63) was the firstborn of Moses Lamb and Johnnie Lockett on July 27, 1951, in Kennard, TX. He was raised in Kennard and Crockett and attended Ralph Bunch High School and Mary Allen College.
Johnny married his sweetheart Annie Coleman on January 30, 1971, and left for the army the following year. Annie and Johnny made Grapeland their home and welcomed 3 kids to their family: Johnny Jr., Christal, and Michael.
Being the oldest child Johnny was inquisitive and eager to learn. This trait has carried him into many prestigious career choices. He worked over 30 years as a supervisor at Vulcraft and after retirement, he took another supervisory position at Wal-Mart. He also worked a few years for T.D.C.J.
Mr. Lamb was also a steadfast worker in the community, serving as a deacon at Rising Star Baptist Church and a member of the Grapeland Lion’s Club.
Mr. Lamb’s love for fishing and the outdoors would send him and his sons, Johnny Jr., and Michael, on annual bass tournaments in Sam Rayburn and Lake Fork. These fishing tournaments brought him joy and the excitement of one day catching that trophy bass. He and his daughter Christal enjoyed talking about life and laughing on their fishing trips from the banks of Lake Fairfield.
Mr. Lamb made his transition into the gates of Heaven on October 27, 2014, surrounded by family at Community Care Center in Crockett.
